Dr. Daniel Bovet (1907- 1992), an Italian Swiss pharmacologist and Nobel Laureate in Medicine, was the first to develop a synthetic neuromuscular blocking agent for clinical use: gallamine triethiodide (Flaxedil®) His work marked a turning point in the evolution of modern anesthesiology.(1)
