European guideline on perioperative cardiac arrest: implications for our practice

Introduction (translated):
In 2023, the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) and the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES) published a consensus guideline on the identification, treatment, and prevention of perioperative cardiac arrest. This document complements the recommendations of the European Resuscitation Council(ERC), which together with the American Heart Association (AHA) form part of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

The aim of this commentary is to highlight the key points of the guideline, analyze their applicability in the Argentine context, and propose implementation strategies adapted to our resources.
